18th Annual President’s Remembrance Day Dinner and Ball

The Remembrance Day Dinner & Ball

As John and Nancy Newbold announced last month, we are merging the President’s Remembrance Day Ball with the ball sponsored for 20 years by Gettysburg Civil War Dance, traditionally held at the Seminary Refectory. Complete details for the 2020 dinners and dances will be shared soon. In the meanwhile, we hope you will plan to attend one or both balls on November 20 and 21, 2020, at the Gettysburg Hotel. We are committed to continuing to offer wonderful events.

History of The President’s Remembrance Day Ball as sponsored by John and Nancy Newbold: 2003-2019

John and Nancy Newbold have been attending the Remembrance Day festivities since 1992. They began sponsoring this dinner/ball in 2003 so to have everything for the evening at one location instead of having to travel around and make multiple reservations.

Beginning three years ago, they introduced two new layers, a Fancy Dress or Masquerade Ball on Friday and a themed Patriotic Ball on Saturday to make each evening more enjoyable. In 2018, the Friday night Ball was a Tartan Ball. Any attire that had a Celtic theme from any period prior to 1865 or any Civil War attire was welcome for Friday and any Civil War attire is welcome for Saturday.

An evening of fine food, dancing and good company!
Susan de Guardiola was the Dance Master for both nights.
